Wilson Mizner, the loveable scoundrel of the Alaska Gold Rush, worked as a bartender in Nome. Before every shift he would put syrup in his hair. Throughout the day he would run his fingers through his hair. Then, as he served drinks and took payment in gold dust, minute particles of gold stuck to his fingers. Which he transferred to his hair. Each night he shampooed his hair and panned for gold!
