Petroleum as a fuel source is on the wane.
We will not have another century of an abundant supply of oil.
So what will replace it?
How about coal?
COAL!
Doesn’t coal pollute the air?
Yes, if it is extracted and then burned.
But, if it is burned in the ground,
can’t we harness the power and avoid the air pollution?
As a matter of fact, we are on the verge of doing just that.
Recently, Caltech announced the reasonable possibility
of transmitting power from satellite to satellite.
And Finland has made wireless power transmission a reality.
All we need to do is figure out a way to burn coal in the ground and
shoot the power up to the satellite system.
But can it be done?
Actually, it is being done now.
Sort of.
Since 1962, the coal field under Centralia, Pennsylvania,
has been burning. So we can produce power by burning coal in the ground.
Maybe we should get some Fins
to show us how to shoot that unused power to the satellites.
